Mint vs Verizon

Verizon and Mint Mobile are popular names in the cellular industry. Verizon is a heavy hitter, with its own personal network. Mint Mobile is a MVNO that uses T-Mobile’s network. Here’s our comparison of Verizon Unlimited Welcome and Mint Mobile Unlimited in four different rounds.

Round 1: Price

Mint Mobile is undeniably a cheaper option. After 15 months with Mint Mobile Unlimited, you will have paid at least $405 (with Verizon Unlimited Welcome you will have paid as little as $975). It is important to note, however, that Mint Mobile requires you to prepay for all their plans.

Round 2: Family Plans

Mint Mobile provides no discount for more lines, every line is $30/month. Verizon, on the other hand, does provide discounts. A Verizon Unlimited Welcome plan with 1 line is $65/month/line, where 4 lines is $30/month/line.  In most cases, we think Mint Mobile Unlimited has better offers for plans with 1-3 lines. However, for plans with 4 lines we think Verizon Unlimited Welcome comes out on top.

Round 3: Reliability

Since Mint Mobile is an MVNO and uses T-Mobile’s network, in moments of high traffic first-hand T-Mobile users will be prioritized over MVNO users. Due to this, we believe Verizon Unlimited Welcome is the better option for reliability.A red boxing glove

Round 4: Features

Both Verizon Unlimited Welcome and Mint Mobile Unlimited offer calls to Mexico and Canada, 5G data, and unlimited talk and text. As opposed to the Verizon plan, Mint Mobile Unlimited offers mobile hotspots. It is also important to note that Mint Mobile’s data speeds will be reduced after 40GB of data. Verizon offers a large variety of additional perks, like Disney+ and Netflix for an additional $10/month per perk. Largely because Verizon doesn’t implement throttling toward its costumer’s, and due to the plethora of perks that it offers, we think Verizon Unlimited Welcome takes the cake for this round.

It’s a draw! Verizon can provide a variety of perks and strong reliability. Mint Mobile can’t offer as many perks, but its price is undeniably a cheaper option for parties of 1-3 or even 5! For parties of 4, the minimum difference between both plans over 15 months is only $180 (Verizon being the more expensive option). If you are looking for a plan for 4 lines, Verizon may be a better bang for your buck.
